Lucknow: A spirited display of sportsmanship and teamwork marked the friendly hockey match between the Staff and the Pupil Authorities of La Martiniere College Lucknow, held as part of the institution’s ongoing hockey season. The match, witnessed by enthusiastic Resident Scholars, concluded in an exciting 1–1 draw.
The game began with both teams being formally introduced to the Principal, Gary Dominic Everett, setting the tone for a competitive yet friendly encounter. From the opening whistle, both sides showcased strong defensive play and cohesive teamwork, resulting in a goalless first half.
The deadlock was broken shortly after halftime when Steven Peter D’Sena scored a well-executed goal, giving the Pupil Authorities a crucial lead. The momentum appeared to be in their favour, especially after another scoring opportunity that was ultimately disallowed due to a foul.
The Staff team, however, mounted a determined comeback. Despite being awarded two penalty chances following fouls by the Pupil Authorities, they were denied both times by the outstanding goalkeeping of Arihant Pratap Singh, whose sharp reflexes kept his side ahead for most of the match.

In a dramatic turn of events in the final two minutes, Vivek Lal found the equaliser for the Staff, ensuring the contest ended on level terms.
The match concluded with both teams sharing honours, reflecting not just competitive spirit but also camaraderie and mutual respect—hallmarks of the sporting culture at the college.
