Gonda: A special lecture on the significance of ancient Indian medical science and Ayurveda was organised at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Degree College in Gonda under the Indian Knowledge Tradition initiative. The programme was jointly organised by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Department of Science and held at the Lalita Shastri Auditorium.
Dr Vaibhav Srivastava, MD, from SCPM Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, was the keynote speaker. He spoke about the scientific perspective underlying ancient Indian medical practices and Ayurveda, while also highlighting their potential relevance to everyday life and healthy living.
The programme was attended by Alka Pandey, Chairperson of SCPM Group of Hospitals and Education, and Ajitabha Dubey, Director of the group. Prof. Jitendra Singh, Acting Principal and IQAC Coordinator, Prof. Mansharam Verma, Coordinator of the Indian Knowledge Tradition Committee, and Dr Rekha Sharma, Head of the Department of Botany and programme coordinator, were also present.
Speakers emphasised that India’s traditional knowledge systems and Ayurveda represent not only an important cultural heritage but also a body of knowledge whose contemporary relevance can be explored in the context of preventive healthcare, wellness and healthy lifestyles.
