Sindhu strikes with a win at Syed Modi finale

Lucknow: The final of Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament was played. Where in women’s singles, India’s PV Sindhu and China’s Wu Luo Yu competed. According to Wu Luo Yu’s World Tour ranking, she is in 80th position. She has played 88 women’s singles matches so far.

In the final, the match between PV Sindhu and Wu Luo Yu lasted for 47 minutes, in which PV won with a score of 21-14, 21-16. Sindhu’s victory not only brought joy to the stadium. But she made people proud by winning in her own country. Badminton lovers who reached the stadium say that such games attract them towards tournaments and sports.

Sindhu started the match strongly and took an initial lead of 5-3, but the Chinese shuttler dominated the Indian star throughout the game. In the mid-break of the game, the score line was 11-9 in Sindhu’s favor. Because she was understanding the challenge in front of her. After the break, Sindhu swiftly extended her lead to 4 points and calmly served it out at game point with a score of 20-14.

In the second game, Wu had to put up a tough challenge against the No. 1 seed as the score was level at 5-5. Wu had taken a 11-10 lead at the break when Sindhu decided to change gears and take control of the championship match.

While the Chinese player managed to find some joy, it eventually proved futile as Sindhu eventually managed to win the game and clinch the championship.

Earlier, the fifth seeded Tanisha and Dhruv duo lost a game lead to lose 21-18 14-21 8-21 to Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supisara Paewsampran in the mixed doubles final. Prithvi and Sai had tied the first game at 8-8 but the rival pair won the first game. Coming back in the second game, the Indians took a 11-7 lead at the break and won the game to level the score at 1-1. In the deciding game, the Indian pair recovered from 1-5 to level the score at 7-7 thanks to Sai’s powerful smash. But despite reducing the gap to 17-18, the Chinese pair kept their composure and won the match. In the mixed doubles final, Tanisha and Dhruv were leading 6-0. But the Thai pair made a comeback and increased their lead to 14-12. Both the pairs were then tied at 18-18.

Tanisha took advantage of the weak return of the opponent at a crucial moment and the first game went in the Indians’ bag. In the second game, Dechapol and Supisara made a comeback to take a 11-6 lead and took the match to the deciding game. Taking advantage of the mistakes of the Indian pair in the third game, the Thai pair managed to take a 11-5 lead till the break and then won the match.
