Bareilly: The 38th death anniversary of freedom fighter, former minister and former Member of Parliament Shri Ram Murti will be observed on October 2, with the Shri Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran awards to be presented to three distinguished personalities.
Speaking to The Lucknow Tribune, Aditya Murti, Secretary of the Shri Ram Murti Smarak (SRMS) Trust, said Prof (Dr) Jayant Khot, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi; Prof (Dr) Rajendra Prasad, Director of Medical Education at Era University, Lucknow; and Bengaluru-based technology executive and digital transformation leader engineer Preeti Arora will receive this year’s Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran.
Shri Ram Murti, an inspiration behind the SRMS Trust, passed away on October 2, 1988. To preserve his ideals and continue his vision of social development, his son Dev Murti established the Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust in 1990. The trust undertakes various initiatives aimed at the overall development of society, including programmes supporting education, culture and the arts.
The memorial programme will be held at the Shri Ram Murti Shatik Auditorium of Shri Ram Murti College of Engineering and Technology (SRMS CET) at 10.30 am on October 2.
The three awardees will be honoured during the ceremony for their contributions in their respective fields. Winners of the annual inter-school debate competition will also receive awards.
Aditya Murti said scholarships worth more than Rs 3.5 crore will be distributed to meritorious students from all educational institutions run by the SRMS Trust.
The trust also presents the Ram Murti Pratibha Alankaran to encourage talent in culture and the arts and provides scholarships to deserving students as part of its continuing social and educational initiatives.
