Lucknow: The Saras Mela was held at Uttarakhand Bhawan, Gomtinagar, Lucknow, under the directives of Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya. Organized by the State Rural Livelihood Mission, the fair started on March 30 and will continue until April 8, 2025.
Women from self-help groups (SHGs) across Uttar Pradesh and other states are showcasing their handmade products, including toys, pickles, handicrafts, sarees, spices, and more. Unique items from Bihar, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Assam are also on display and available for purchase.
Mission Director Deepa Ranjan highlighted that the fair aims to boost rural women’s livelihoods by providing a platform for selling their products at fair prices. Similar fairs are being organized in Ayodhya and have concluded in Gorakhpur. Evening cultural programs, including folk singing, Kathak dance, and puppet shows, add to the festive spirit of the event.
