Lucknow: A high-level delegation of the Republican Party of India (A) reached the fire-ravaged slum settlement in the Tedhi Pulia Vikasnagar area, where a devastating blaze on Wednesday evening reduced hundreds of makeshift homes to ashes, leaving families homeless and vulnerable.
The incident, described as a major humanitarian tragedy, reportedly caused extensive loss of property worth crores and led to the death of several animals, with fears of human casualties and missing persons also being expressed. The affected families, many of whom have lost everything, are now forced to live under the open sky.
Delegation Extends Support to Victims
Members of the RPI delegation interacted with the distressed residents, offering emotional support and assuring them of solidarity during this crisis. Party workers have also initiated relief efforts at the ground level, distributing food, clothing, and essential supplies to those affected.
The delegation noted the severity of the situation, highlighting that several families have been left without shelter, basic necessities, or immediate assistance.
Concern Over Government Response
Following their visit, party leaders expressed concern over what they described as a lack of adequate response from the state administration. Addressing the media, representatives said it was unfortunate that no formal statement or relief package had been announced despite the scale of the disaster.
They emphasised that merely deploying police personnel at the site would not address the suffering of victims and urged authorities to act with urgency and sensitivity.

Key Demands Raised
The party has called for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the cause of the fire, along with immediate clarification regarding missing persons. It has also demanded that the government announce a time-bound rehabilitation plan for displaced families, ensuring they are resettled at the earliest.
In addition, the delegation urged authorities to provide immediate financial assistance to families who have lost their homes, livestock, and loved ones in the incident.
Commitment to Continued Support
Reaffirming its commitment, the Republican Party of India (A) stated that it would stand firmly with the affected families and continue to raise their concerns. The party also appealed to civil society and other organisations to come forward and extend support to those in need.
Warning of further action if rehabilitation efforts are delayed, party leaders said they would be compelled to adopt democratic means to ensure justice and relief for the victims.
