Lucknow: The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has stepped up efforts to expand its organisational presence in Awadh and eastern Uttar Pradesh, with party president and Union Cabinet Minister Jayant Chaudhary calling for greater grassroots engagement and wider outreach among farmers, youth, teachers and other sections of society.
A grand welcome and felicitation ceremony for Chaudhary was organised at the Mars Auditorium of the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow on Sunday. The event was hosted by RLD member, teacher leader and former MLC candidate B.K. Shukla.
Senior RLD leaders, public representatives, members of the teaching community, party office-bearers, workers and supporters participated in the programme and welcomed Chaudhary with enthusiasm. Shukla honoured the RLD president by presenting him with a silver crown, an angavastram and a memento.
Before the formal inauguration, tributes were paid to former Prime Minister and RLD founder Chaudhary Charan Singh and former Union minister and former RLD president Ajit Singh by garlanding their portraits. The programme was subsequently inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Chaudhary and other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering, Jayant Chaudhary described the felicitation programme as an important opportunity to interact directly with party workers and discuss organisational priorities. He emphasised the role of workers in strengthening the party and expanding its presence across Uttar Pradesh.
Chaudhary urged party workers to remain active at the grassroots level, maintain continuous dialogue with different sections of society and take the party’s policies, ideology and public-interest issues to a wider audience.
He noted that western Uttar Pradesh has traditionally been the RLD’s strong political base, but said the party was now moving to give fresh momentum to organisational expansion and public outreach in Awadh and eastern Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted Lucknow’s importance as the state capital and as a key centre for political and social engagement with Awadh and Purvanchal.
The RLD president particularly stressed the need to bring farmers, young people, teachers and representatives of various social groups into the organisational fold. He called upon workers to go beyond routine political activities and remain consistently connected with people to understand their concerns, expectations and aspirations and work towards addressing them.
Chaudhary also thanked B.K. Shukla for organising the welcome ceremony and welcomed his decision to join the RLD. He said the association of experienced teacher leaders, social workers and young people with the party would provide new energy and strengthen its organisational structure.
The gathering responded enthusiastically to Chaudhary’s address, with party slogans echoing through the auditorium.
Focus on Awadh and Purvanchal Expansion
For the RLD, western Uttar Pradesh has remained its traditional political stronghold. The party is now seeking to strengthen its organisational footprint in Awadh and eastern Uttar Pradesh through increased grassroots activity and public engagement. The Lucknow event was seen as part of this broader effort to expand the party’s reach into new regions.
The participation of members of the teaching community, youth and representatives of different social groups in the programme organised by B.K. Shukla also underscored the party’s efforts to broaden its social and organisational outreach.
In his welcome address, Shukla spoke about his new political association with the RLD and expressed his commitment to advancing issues concerning farmers, youth, teachers and wider social interests. He said sustained efforts would be made to strengthen the party organisation in Lucknow and the Awadh region and take the RLD’s message to a broader section of society.
Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Anil Kumar also addressed the gathering, encouraged RLD workers and supporters and stressed the importance of strengthening the organisation.
RLD National General Secretary (Organisation) Trilok Tyagi underlined the importance of building the party at the grassroots level and ensuring an active role for workers.
RLD Uttar Pradesh president Aishwarya Raj Singh spoke about the party’s activities and organisational expansion plans in the state. State president (working) Anupam Mishra called upon workers to strengthen the organisation and prepare with full energy for upcoming political activities.
The programme concluded with B.K. Shukla expressing gratitude to Jayant Chaudhary, senior leaders on the dais, public representatives, party office-bearers, workers, supporters and other guests. The ceremony ended amid RLD slogans and collective greetings, followed by a luncheon for the guests.
