Mumbai: Rashami Desai is returning to television fiction with Star Plus’ upcoming show Sayoni, in which she plays the powerful character of Maya. The show also stars Jhanvi Soni as Saanvi and Gautam Singh Vig as the new companion who enters Saanvi’s life.
The promos have already sparked curiosity around Maya, Saanvi and the changes that unfold in their lives, while Desai’s return to television has added further interest to the show.
Ahead of the premiere, Desai spoke about her experience of working with producers Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey. Describing the duo as “amazing”, she said working with them gives her a feeling of being at home. She also reflected on how her approach towards work has evolved over the years and why she felt Sayoni was the right project for her at this stage of her career.
“I love my work, I love my journey and I absolutely enjoy being on set. Today, I am more disciplined and focused on my work. With experience, I feel I can perform much better than before. Most importantly, it matters who I am working with. My director and producers, Sargun and Ravi, are amazing,” Desai said.
She praised the production team, calling director Uttam Belawat an important creative force behind the show. Desai said audiences often do not know the people working behind the scenes, even though they play a crucial role in bringing a project to viewers.
“Uttam is the heartbeat of the show, and working with Sargun and Ravi feels like home,” she said, adding that collaborating with such a team felt like an important new chapter in her life. Desai said she was happy she had waited rather than making a hurried decision, stressing the importance of being honest with one’s emotions.
Sayoni stars Rashami Desai, Jhanvi Soni and Gautam Singh Vig in key roles. The show premiered on September 23 and airs at 7:30 pm on Star Plus, with episodes also available on JioHotstar.
