Hussainganj, Lucknow – The opening of a new liquor shop at Udayganj Chauraha has sparked heavy protests among the local residents and traders. The new shop, which reportedly violates established regulations, has raised concerns over potential corruption within the excise department.
Residents are voicing strong objections as they claim that the shop was licensed for one location but was opened at a different, heavily populated area. The locals are accusing the excise department officials of corruption, further tarnishing the image of the government.
The liquor shop, located within just a few steps of both a mosque and a temple, has left people wondering why such establishments are allowed to operate so close to places of worship, especially when regulations prohibit the opening of meat shops within 500 meters of such religious sites. The residents argue that this is a gross injustice, questioning the fairness of the decision.
The protest has gained significant traction, with locals and business owners organizing a demonstration to express their discontent. They are demanding immediate action from the excise department to relocate the liquor store.
“If the excise department does not take strict action and relocate the shop, the public will continue to protest,” said one of the local business owners. “This is a direct challenge to the values of Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb that our city is known for.”
Despite the rising tension, the timely intervention of the Hussainganj Police has prevented the situation from escalating into a major protest or incident. Authorities remain under pressure to address the concerns raised by the local community.
The matter continues to unfold, and many are now questioning the role of local officials in ensuring the adherence to laws meant to maintain harmony in the area.
