Seminar on ‘Education is the Key to Social Change’ Held in Lucknow on Ambedkar Jayanti

Lucknow: A seminar on the theme “Education is the Key to Social Change” was organised in the city to mark the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar. The event was jointly hosted by the International Buddhist Research Institute and the Culture Department at SBM Inter College, Indira Nagar.

The programme featured a range of activities, including a seminar, essay writing competition, and painting competition, with enthusiastic participation from students of various schools. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar’s statue.

Prominent attendees included institute member Tarunesh Bauddh, Bhikshu Sheel Ratan, Director Dr. Rakesh Singh, SBM Inter College Director Prof. R.C. Mishra, Dr. Dhirendra Singh, and Arunesh Mishra, along with Buddhist monks, scholars, teachers, students, and local dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. R.C. Mishra highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar was a great social reformer and the architect of the Indian Constitution, whose vision of equality, justice, and education continues to inspire generations. He emphasised that Ambedkar’s life stands as a symbol of struggle, hard work, and self-respect, urging students to follow his ideals to build an egalitarian society.

Dr. Rakesh Singh, Director of the institute, underscored Ambedkar’s forward-thinking vision, particularly his emphasis on women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of societal progress. He also noted that efforts toward cultural and educational equality remain vital for ensuring inclusive development and strengthening the role of women in nation-building.

The event concluded with a call to uphold the values of education, equality, and social justice, reinforcing the message that education remains a powerful tool for transformative social change.
