Nutrition Exhibition Promotes Message of ‘Healthy Women, Healthy Families’ in Gonda

Gonda: The Home Science Department of Saraswati Devi Nari Janasthali PG College, Gonda, organised an informative and engaging exhibition on nutritious and balanced diets on September 21, 2026. The central message of the exhibition was that a healthy woman is the foundation of a healthy family.

Students highlighted the important role women play in maintaining the nutritional well-being of their families and stressed the need for women to remain aware of their own dietary and health requirements.

The exhibition was organised under the guidance of Home Science Department Head Ranjana Bandhu and Assistant Professors Sushma Singh and Sunita Mishra. Students of BA First Year and MA First Year, First Semester, participated enthusiastically in the event.

The students prepared a variety of nutritious dishes using cereals, millets, pulses, green vegetables and other food ingredients. Wheat flour and wheat-based halwa, boiled chickpeas, boiled peas, and several dishes prepared with millets and green vegetables were among the attractions.

Through their presentations, the students explained that a balanced diet should include appropriate quantities of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and adequate water. The dishes were displayed in a clean, creative and visually appealing manner.

Members of the college management, including Dipali Modi, Gunjan Shah and Pooja Chhabra, attended the exhibition. During an interactive session, the guests asked students questions about balanced diets, essential nutrients and foods required for maintaining good health. The students responded confidently, demonstrating their subject knowledge, and were appreciated by the guests.

The guests, teachers and other attendees later tasted the dishes prepared by the students and praised their taste, nutritional value, hygiene and presentation.

College Principal Dr Aarti Srivastava congratulated the students and the Home Science Department for successfully organising the exhibition. She said women play a vital role in building healthy families and that awareness about nutrition is essential for overall family well-being.

Administrator Dr Anandita Rajat, faculty members from various departments and other college staff were also present. They appreciated the students’ knowledge, creativity, hard work and the attractive presentation of the nutritious dishes.
