Sonbhadra: NTPC Singrauli has welcomed a new chapter in its leadership with the appointment of Mr. E. Prabhakar Rao as the project’s Executive Director. A seasoned power sector professional with nearly 37 years of experience, Rao is expected to steer the station towards greater operational excellence while accelerating its ongoing expansion initiatives.
Mr. Rao began his career with NTPC in 1989 as an Executive Trainee and has since held several key positions across the organization. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served at major NTPC locations including Vindhyachal, the Western Regional Headquarters in Mumbai, Southern Regional Headquarters in Hyderabad, Northern Regional Headquarters in Lucknow, and the Corporate Centre in New Delhi and Noida.
His extensive expertise spans multiple domains of the power sector, including plant operations, commissioning and testing, efficiency management, commercial functions, regulatory affairs, billing and accounting, commercial coordination, and corporate planning. Known for his strategic vision and result-oriented leadership, Rao has played a significant role in supporting NTPC’s growth and operational success over the years.
An alumnus of Nagarjuna University, Mr. Rao earned his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988. He has also participated in numerous national and international training programmes focused on leadership development, performance management, regulatory challenges in the energy sector, and organizational excellence.
After assuming charge, Mr. Rao emphasized that safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement in generation performance, environmental responsibility, and the overall development of employees and local communities would remain key priorities under his leadership. He also encouraged employees to strengthen the culture of teamwork, innovation, and high performance across the organization.
Welcoming the new Executive Director, NTPC Singrauli’s unions and associations expressed confidence that his rich experience, professional expertise, and visionary approach would help the project achieve new milestones and set higher benchmarks in organizational excellence.
With one of India’s flagship power stations entering a new phase of growth, stakeholders are optimistic that Mr. Rao’s leadership will further enhance NTPC Singrauli’s contribution to the nation’s energy security and sustainable development goals.
