Nothing can be done now: Nenad Lalovic on Vinesh Phogat

Washington: Nenad Lalovic, the head of United World Wrestling (UWW), disregarded the chance of reversing Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the Olympic wrestling final. Due to being 100 grams overweight at the weigh-in, Vinesh was disqualified. Lalovic expressed sorrow for the regrettable development that resulted in Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Notably, Phogat was scheduled to compete against Sarah Hildebrandt of the United States in the women’s freestyle 50 kg wrestling final.

Nenad Lalovic, the head of UWW, also discussed the subject in an exclusive interview with a news program. Though he acknowledged that everyone must abide by the pre-established regulations, he expressed sympathy for Vinesh.

“We must abide with the regulations. I’m so sorry for what transpired with her. She was a little woman who was overweight. But everything is open to the public and the rules are rules. It is not conceivable to allow someone who does not meet the weight to participate when all the athletes are there, according to Lalovic.
