Mission Shakti 5.0 Awareness Drive Held in Banthra, Women and Students Educated on Safety and Legal Rights

Lucknow: As part of the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, the Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a comprehensive awareness programme in Banthra, aiming to promote women’s safety, empowerment, and legal awareness at the grassroots level.

The initiative was carried out by the team from Banthra Police Station in Haroni Gram Panchayat and at Vishwanath Academy in Banthra, where women, students, and teachers participated in large numbers.

Focus on Awareness and Empowerment

The programme emphasized the core message of Mission Shakti 5.0: “Awareness is protection, safety at every moment, empowerment for every future.” Officials highlighted that the campaign is playing a significant role in spreading awareness about women’s rights and safety mechanisms across communities.

Participants were educated about various police helplines, including 1098, 1076, 112, 1090, 101, 108, 102, 1930, and 181, enabling them to seek immediate assistance during emergencies. Information was also provided about the UP COP mobile application, women help desks, and dedicated safety centers established at police stations.

Institutional Support Strengthened

Under the direction of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, Mission Shakti centres have been established at 54 police stations across Lucknow. Each centre is staffed with trained officers, including inspectors and women officers, to ensure prompt redressal of complaints related to women.

Cyber Safety and Legal Awareness

A major component of the programme focused on cybercrime prevention. Participants were advised not to share sensitive information such as OTPs or banking details with unknown individuals and to avoid clicking on suspicious links. In case of online fraud, they were encouraged to immediately contact the cyber helpline 1930.

Police personnel also explained legal provisions related to crimes against women and children, including awareness about personal safety, inappropriate behavior, and the legal remedies available. Sessions on child protection covered concepts such as safe and unsafe touch, along with awareness of laws protecting minors.

Community Engagement

The awareness drive was led by Sub-Inspector Gulab Kali, Sub-Inspector Neha Yadav, and women head constables Manisha and Rama Gudiya. They interacted directly with students and women, addressing their concerns and encouraging them to report any form of harassment or crime without hesitation.

Key Objectives

Officials outlined the primary objectives of the programme:

  • Enhancing legal awareness among women
  • Promoting cyber safety and digital responsibility
  • Informing citizens about available support systems and helplines
  • Encouraging timely reporting of crimes and strengthening community-police trust

The campaign concluded with an appeal to remain vigilant, informed, and proactive in ensuring personal and community safety. Authorities reiterated that initiatives like Mission Shakti 5.0 are vital in building a secure, inclusive, and empowered society.
