Lucknow: After the Dalit votes slipped away from BSP in the Lok Sabha elections, Mayawati has started trying to prevent them from shifting allegiance. These days she is looking most aggressive on the issue of reservation. But, in this matter she is not blaming the ruling party BJP but the opposition party Congress.
Political experts say that after getting out on zero in the Lok Sabha elections, the graph of BSP went down even more rapidly. This time their core voters have been seen breaking away from them and going to the other side, that too especially to Congress.
Due to growing concern, Mayawati was the first and most opposed to the Supreme Court’s decision regarding creamy layer in reservation for Scheduled Castes and Tribes. On this issue, she advised BJP to make a law, while cornering Congress.
Experts say that BSP has grabbed the statement given by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in America regarding reservation. Now it will use it in the elections to make its voters aware. The party will also make it an issue in the by-elections.
BSP sources say that there is already an instruction from the party regarding the issue of reservation that it should be strongly conveyed to the Dalits. The biggest concern for Mayawati is the fragmentation of the Dalit vote bank. She would like to get it back at any cost. For this reason, she is not shying away from openly attacking Rahul Gandhi. Mayawati’s attitude in the meeting after being elected president shows that she is once again trying to return to the Bahujan Samaj with her core issue.
Experts say that Congress has been the root of all such issues including Mandal Commission. In the Lok Sabha elections, the core voter of BSP has shifted to the alliance. Mayawati is trying to bring them back. Congress has stolen all the issues of BSP, due to which BSP has suffered.
He said that if Congress leaders were serious about reservation, they could have solved these issues during their government. But, they did not do so. Now they are speaking on these issues only to garner votes. Rahul Gandhi has harmed himself by speaking on the reservation issue in America. Whereas, a few days ago, the Sangh chief was seen supporting reservation on a public platform. Due to this, Rahul Gandhi will suffer.
Another political analyst says that Mayawati’s Dalit vote has shifted towards Congress. She has to save her vote bank. That is why she is attacking Congress more. She wants to save her vote bank by keeping the government happy.
BSP’s core vote Jatav has been seen getting scattered in this election. This vote came to BSP from Congress. Dalit and Muslim votes were once with Congress. Ever since UP Congress has become weak, Dalit votes have been seen standing with BSP and Muslim votes with SP. BSP is in more danger from Congress, it wants to retain its Dalit vote.
