Lucknow Metro receives 15th (CIDC) Vishwakarma Award 2024

New Delhi / Lucknow: Yet another achievement added in for Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation. Lucknow metro project awarded today the prestigious 15th Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) Vishwakarma Award 2024 in the category of Best Construction Project.

On behalf of UPMRC,  C.P. Singh, Director (Works & Infrastructure) received the award at an ceremony held in Delhi.

CIDC auditors examined the construction works of Lucknow Metro’s underground-elevated metro station and Transport Nagar depot in December 2023.

Lucknow Metro achieved the mile stone of commencing metro operations on the entire North-South Corridor (CCS Airport to Munshipulia) within the time span of 4.5 years which was 36 days ahead of the scheduled deadline. There are a total of 21 metro stations on the 23 km long North-South Corridor of Lucknow Metro.

This year, applications were received from 380 construction industries for the prestigious 15th (CIDC) Vishwakarma Award. The winners were awarded after several months of rigorous scrutiny by the veterans and stalwarts of construction industry leaders and CIDC auditors.

Lucknow Metro registered its name in the Limca Book of Records for completing the construction work of underground metro station CCS Airport in a record time of just 19 months and 10 days. Environment was given the utmost importance during the construction work of Lucknow Metro stations.

During the construction of Lucknow Metro, along with shifting 410 trees to another place, 537 trees were also saved from getting deforested by making changes in the design. In recognition of the good environmental practices implemented by Lucknow Metro, the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has certified all the 21 metro stations with the platinum rating.

Lucknow Metro has gained a lot of name in the last few years in the field of construction work as well as customer relationship management. Lucknow Metro has made a provision for birthday celebrations in the metro train with the passengers. Along with this, programs are organized to give a platform to the emerging talent of the city. Lucknow Metro has also made arrangements to set up stalls at metro stations to promote the ideology of ‘Make in India’ by providing platform to small and medium businessmen.

UPMRCs Managing Director,  Sushil Kumar expressed happiness on receiving the 15th (CIDC) Vishwakarma Award. He said that ‘NITI Aayog has jointly set up Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for the development of Indian construction industry. This award is a great honor and recognition to excellent work culture of UPMRC. I congratulate the entire team of UPMRC, especially the civil team, for receiving this prestigious award’.
