It has been more than 30 years that Dr. AM Siddiqui is practicing orthopedics. He has around 8000 surgeries under his belt, but even he admits that without teamwork this would not have been possible. He says latest trends show that most of the issues crop up early at 50. He says even in the usual 55 to 60 age bracket, problems are very common. He says added problems like obesity and suddenly lifestyle changes often lead to damage. Dr. Siddiqui says that it is advisable that you do exercise on regular basis with drastic Lifestyle changes and the work from home culture creeping in people makes people accustomed to sitting on the net with the laptop and working for long hours. With this exercising has gone down leading to obesity.
Dr. Siddiqui says junk food, lack of exercise, lack of vitamin D3, calcium and damage of the cartilage is a major factor in the increasing burden of orthopedic cases. Talking of the male to female ratio Dr Siddiqui says 3 is to 7 is the major troubling factor. The problem is higher in female population. Talking of global statistics, Dr Siddiqui says that in South East Asia obesity is generally on the lower side with glaring examples like Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. To avoid any kind of problem he says that one must exercise keeping the weight low, avoid sedentary lifestyle, avoid prolonged standing and walking for long routes. He says if one can avoid the Asian squatting habit, sitting cross legged, sitting and eating junk food a lot of the problem can be rectified.
Health City Vistaar is fast taking shape. He said it is a 300 bedded facility which is poised to improve the competition in the city. He says complete Ortho facilities are available right from joint replacement, sport medicine, orthoscopic surgery’s, robotics, Super Speciality Hospital with almost all major medical segments covered.
As a message to the public, Dr Siddiqui says you should approach the doctor at the correct time. Before it is too late. It is better to avoid surgery and have proper guidance at the right time and be aware and not fall for myths.
In other words he says that the scientific approach to treatment matters. He also shares that while AI is revolutionising medical care in a major way, one will have to keep in mind that – without human intervention even AI will not be able to deliver properly.
