Lucknow Crowned Champions in Open Senior State-Level Invitational Men’s Handball Tournament

Defeats Gorakhpur 30-21 in the Final

Lucknow: Hosts Lucknow clinched the title of the Open Senior State-Level Invitational Men’s Handball Tournament by defeating Gorakhpur 30-21 in the final. The championship, organized under the aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate and the Regional Sports Office Lucknow, concluded at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall in KD Singh Babu Stadium.

Lucknow dominated the final against Gorakhpur, leading 18-12 at halftime. The team maintained its stronghold throughout the match, ensuring a decisive victory.

David was the star performer for Lucknow, scoring an impressive nine goals. He was supported by Ankit with seven goals, Pravesh with five, and Shubham with four. On the other hand, Manvendra emerged as Gorakhpur’s top scorer with eight goals, while Pawan and Himanshu netted three goals each.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony where Ram Mohan Agrawal, Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, and Vijay Singh, Joint Secretary, presented the trophies to the winners. The event was also graced by Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, and retired RTO A.K. Tripathi.

Among other distinguished attendees were Animesh Saxena (Acting Principal, Guru Govind Singh Sports College & Regional Sports Officer, Lucknow Division), Amit Pandey (Organizing Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Handball Association), Joint Secretary Parmendra Singh, Lucknow team coach Mohammad Tauheed (International Handball Coach), and gymnastics coach Ravikant Yadav, along with a large gathering of sports enthusiasts.
