Lucknow Airport Conducts Aviation Safety Awareness Sessions in Local Communities

Lucknow: Lucknow Airport conducted aviation safety awareness sessions at Government Composite School, Aurangabad Jagir, and Bijnor Junction to educate students and local residents about safety precautions and potential risks associated with activities around the airport.

During the sessions, participants were informed about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and avoiding the dumping of garbage near the airport. Waste can attract birds, increasing bird activity in the vicinity and raising the risk of bird strikes involving aircraft.

The awareness programmes also highlighted the dangers of flying kites and using laser lights near the airport. Laser beams can pose serious risks to pilots, particularly during critical flight operations such as take-off and landing.

Participants were also briefed on safety regulations governing construction activities around the airport. They were informed that obtaining a mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) through the Airports Authority of India’s NOCAS portal is essential before undertaking construction in areas subject to airport-related height restrictions. Compliance with prescribed height limits and applicable aviation safety standards was also emphasised.

Through these initiatives, Lucknow Airport aims to strengthen community awareness about aviation safety and encourage responsible behaviour among residents living in areas surrounding the airport. The sessions highlighted the important role local communities can play in maintaining a safe environment for aircraft operations.
