Gonda: A legal literacy programme was organised at the Bhagwan Dhanvantari Auditorium of SCPM Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Gonda, on Wednesday to raise awareness about laws concerning the protection of children and the safety of women at workplaces.
The programme was organised in accordance with the directions of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow, and the orders of the District Judge, Gonda. The main focus was on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the PoSH Act.
Ankita Singh, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gonda, attended as the chief guest. Dr O.N. Pandey, Chairman, SCPM Group, and Alka Pandey, Chairperson, SCPM Group, were present as special guests. Brij Lal Tiwari, Assistant Defence Counsel, District Legal Services Authority, Gonda; Chandramohan Verma, Child Protection Officer; and Priyanka Singh, Sub-Inspector, Women Police Station, also attended.
Addressing students and other participants, Ankita Singh explained key provisions of the POCSO and PoSH Acts, children’s rights and legal provisions relating to the safety and dignity of women at workplaces. She urged participants to remain aware of their legal rights and responsibilities.
SCPM Group Managing Director Dr Ayush Pandey, Director Ajitabh Dubey and Administrator Dheeraj Kumar Dwivedi, along with institutional officials, teachers, staff members and students, participated in the programme.
The event aimed to strengthen legal awareness among students and staff and promote a safe, respectful and sensitive environment within educational and professional settings.
