Kakori episode centenary celebrations start

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Kakori Train Action Shatabdi Samaroh and felicitated the revolutionaries of Kakori Train Action and the families of the martyrs of the Kargil war. On this occasion, CM Yogi said that we have got freedom due to the sacrifice of the heroes.

He said that revolutionaries offered the flower of life at their feet, and asked this boon from the motherland, may your glory remain immortal mother, may we live for a few days or not. With this resolution, the revolutionaries who accepted to be hanged for the freedom of the country are a source of inspiration for all of us. Every countryman should take this resolution. If everyone maintains national integrity with the spirit of nation first, then no one can stop India from becoming the biggest power in the world.

CM Yogi said that we did not get freedom suddenly. There was a struggle for this in different periods. Though the whole of India was the center point of the freedom movement, but Uttar Pradesh, a symbol of the spiritual-cultural identity of the country, was leading the first freedom struggle. Mangal Pandey led it from Barrackpore.

He said that Bandhu Singh in Gorakhpur, Dhan Singh Kotwal in Meerut, Nana Saheb and Tatya Tope in Kanpur and Maharani Lakshmibai in Jhansi led the freedom movement. When money was needed for revolutionary activities, the brave sons carried out the Kakori train action. In this action, the revolutionaries took Rs 4,679 from the treasury of the British government. Rs 10 lakh was spent in arresting and punishing them. The revolutionaries were sentenced to death without trial.

The Chief Minister said that the British government was so nervous that the great heroes of the Kakori train action were hanged before the scheduled date. This was an example of their cowardice. They inspired people to take the aim of life to strengthen the country. He also said that the country can be strengthened by following the duties of the revolutionaries who fought for freedom with a resolution. Caste, religion or personal interest cannot be more important than the nation. All citizens must perform their duties.
