Kanpur: The 26th convocation of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural and Technology University, Kanpur was held under the chairmanship of the Governor of the state and Chancellor of State Universities, Anandiben Patel. In the convocation, the Governor conferred degrees to a total of 601 students and medals and awards to 62 meritorious students.
She awarded Chancellor Gold Medal to 14 best performing students, University Silver Medal to 14 students, University Bronze Medal to 13 students and sponsored Gold Medal to 21 students. The Governor uploaded all the degrees and mark sheets on DigiLocker. On this occasion, the Governor provided 200 Anganwadi kits to Anganwadi workers to strengthen Anganwadi centers, in which 100 Anganwadi kits were distributed by the University and 100 Anganwadi kits were distributed with the cooperation of District Administration Auraiya.
She also presented 200 books to the headmasters of three schools and honoured 12 students of Sambilian Vidyalaya/Madhyamik Vidyalaya Kanpur Dehat, Raebareli, Fatehpur who won various competitions by giving them certificates, books, pens and bags etc.
On this occasion, the Governor congratulated and wished the degree holders and said that they should use their knowledge and skills to create employment in agriculture along with quality production through new agricultural technology and try to contribute to the creation of a self-reliant India, which will increase the fame of this university and the country.
Encouraging the students, he said that to achieve big achievements, goals should also be set big. He inspired the students to move forward according to future needs, technology and available opportunities.
In her address, the Governor said that the country is achieving great achievements in the field of agricultural research and education and is becoming self-reliant in the field of food grains and the credit for this goes to our farmers. She said that most of the population still lives in rural areas. Rural women are becoming self-reliant by participating in agriculture, animal husbandry, fish farming, handloom and dairy production etc. and are strengthening the Indian economy. She emphasized on reducing the cost of agriculture and adopting cow-based natural and organic farming to double the income of farmers.
She said that due to modern agricultural techniques, disease-resistant species, abundance of agricultural investments and agriculture-friendly policies, an increase in food grain production has been recorded in the country. Drone didis and Krishi Sakhis are also being selected in the agriculture sector, which will definitely contribute to increasing agricultural productivity. On this occasion, the Governor conferred an honorary degree to Dr. Bram Govarts, Director General of International Wheat and Maize Research Center Mexico and presented the book ‘Hamara Raj Bhavan’ based on the innovations of the Raj Bhavan.
Apart from this, she provided a health kit to CDO Auraiya and directed that similar kits should be provided to all Anganwadi centers. The best performing student in Masters in Plant Pathology of the University was also awarded the sponsored Tapanath Shukla Gold Medal and a cheque of Rs. 50,000.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Anand Kumar Singh presented the progress report of the University and gave detailed information about the innovations in teaching, research and extension work.
On this occasion, the chief guest Dr. Bram Govarts congratulated all the medal and degree winning students. In his address, he said that this University has set a record in the field of agriculture by bringing out more than 305 species of pulses, oilseeds and food grains. And this University has made a big contribution in the Green Revolution.
On this occasion, special guest Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, special guest Minister of State for Agricultural Education Baldev Singh Aulakh, Chief Development Officer Auraiya Ram Sumer Gautam, members of the University’s Management Board and Academic Council, and Deans, Directors, Teachers and Officers of the University’s faculties, University students, Anganwadi workers and school children etc. were present.
