Jaipur: The Indian Premier League continues to deliver high-octane action, and Match 43 promises another thrilling contest as Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Delhi Capitals are set to receive a major boost with Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc likely to make his first appearance of the season. The left-arm quick has recovered from a shoulder injury and rejoined the squad last week, raising hopes of strengthening DC’s struggling bowling unit.
The Capitals have endured a challenging campaign so far, managing just three wins in eight matches. Their recent loss to Punjab Kings—despite posting a massive 264 runs—highlighted their urgent need for a reliable strike bowler. Starc’s return could prove crucial as the team enters a must-win phase with six league games remaining.
The Australian speedster last played competitive cricket on January 25 for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Since joining the Capitals camp, Starc has been actively training and was recently seen bowling at full tilt in the nets, as shared in a team video ahead of the match. His match fitness and rhythm will be closely watched, but early signs indicate he is ready to make an immediate impact.
Starc brings with him a wealth of IPL experience. Having debuted in 2014 with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he has played 52 matches, claiming 65 wickets at an economy rate of 8.61. His best performance stands at an impressive 5/35, with multiple four-wicket hauls highlighting his ability to dismantle batting line-ups.
As Delhi Capitals prepare to face a strong Rajasthan Royals side at their home ground, all eyes will be on Starc. His return could be the turning point DC desperately needs to revive their campaign and keep their playoff hopes alive.
