Jhansi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the women of Jhansi who are running a campaign for water conservation in his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He praised the women of Jhansi who gave new life to the Ghurari river by stopping the wastage of water.
Women of Jhansi gave new life to Ghurari river
PM Modi said in the Mann Ki Baat program that some women of Jhansi in UP have given new life to the Ghurari river. These women are associated with the Self Help Group (SHG) and are leading this campaign by becoming Jal Saheli. No one would have imagined the way these women have saved the dying Ghurari river. They prepared a check dam by filling sand in sacks.
They stopped the rainwater from getting wasted and filled the river with water. This not only solved the water problem of the people of this area, but also brought happiness back on their faces. He said that somewhere Nari Shakti increases Jal Shakti and somewhere Jal Shakti also strengthens Nari Shakti.
Women have increased the prestige of Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude to PM Modi and congratulated the women who became the inspiration for water conservation. He wrote in a post on the social media platform X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Mann Ki Baat program mentioned the efforts made by the women associated with the self-help group of Jhansi district to conserve and revive the extinct Ghurari river by becoming ‘Jal Saheli’, which is a matter of pride for the whole of Uttar Pradesh.
This will definitely give new energy to the work of water conservation. These ‘Jal Saheli’ women, who have become a wonderful symbol of women empowerment by helping in the construction of hundreds of reservoirs, have presented an excellent example of water conservation and promotion while facing many challenges. Hearty congratulations to the women who have become the inspiration for water conservation and gratitude to the Prime Minister.”
