Bareilly: In a significant step towards strengthening scientific research and innovation in India, the ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly, and the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to promote scientific cooperation between the two institutions.
The MoU was exchanged by Dr Bhaskar Narayan, Director, CSIR-IITR, and Dr Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR, and Director, ICAR-IVRI.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Debabrata Kanungo, former Additional Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Dr Javed Iqbal, former Director of CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram, and outgoing and current Chairman of the Research Council of CSIR-IITR, Lucknow.
The agreement will provide a structured framework for joint research and development activities, knowledge exchange and collaborative research in scientific areas of mutual interest. It will also promote wider engagement between scientists, researchers and students through academic programmes, training and capacity-building initiatives.
The partnership is expected to strengthen inter-institutional research, innovation and scientific excellence in toxicology, veterinary science and allied disciplines. It will facilitate the sharing of scientific expertise and resources while creating opportunities for researchers and students to participate in collaborative academic and research activities.
The collaboration marks an important step towards developing stronger institutional linkages between two leading research organisations and advancing multidisciplinary scientific research with potential applications in veterinary and allied fields.
