IBM, AICTE to Launch AI Lab to Upskill India’s Technical Talent

New Delhi: In a major push toward strengthening India’s AI capabilities, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has joined hands with IBM to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab at the AICTE headquarters. The initiative aims to empower students and faculty across India’s technical education ecosystem with hands-on training in emerging technologies.

The proposed AI lab will act as a national hub for skill development in artificial intelligence, data science, and related domains. It will provide practical learning opportunities, certification programs, and curriculum support to technical institutions, thereby aligning education with the needs of the modern industry.

According to the government’s statement, the collaboration is “committed to ensuring that AI is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with India’s developmental priorities.” By combining the strengths of academia, regulatory bodies, and global tech expertise, the project intends to bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and real-world application.

The implementation roadmap includes training master trainers, conducting workshops and hackathons, and accrediting participants with recognized certifications. Over time, the initiative is expected to equip thousands of students and educators with cutting-edge skills, further fueling India’s vision of a future-ready, AI-driven workforce.
