Mumbai: Janmashtami celebrations are set to bring a mix of devotion, family drama and festive excitement to Anmol TV’s original fiction show Hamari Radha, with actress Simran Kaur, who plays the titular Radha, also revisiting some cherished memories of celebrating the festival during her childhood.
As the show marks Janmashtami, viewers will see Radha welcoming Laddu Gopal into her home and making preparations for the auspicious celebrations. However, the festive atmosphere soon takes an unexpected turn when Shanaya, played by Vaidehi Nair, becomes upset after Gary is unable to take her out.
In a fit of anger, Shanaya damages the sacred footprints created for Laddu Gopal. Her plan, however, backfires when she accidentally falls into cow dung. The situation takes another turn when Kiyan, dressed as Lord Krishna, recreates the sacred footprints and helps restore the sanctity of the Janmashtami celebrations.
Away from the show’s storyline, Simran Kaur reflected on her own childhood memories associated with the festival. She recalled participating in plays as a child and portraying Radha, an experience that she remembers as particularly meaningful.
“Janmashtami has always been very close to my heart. I still remember participating in plays as a child and playing the role of Radha. Even at that age, I could feel the purity and beauty associated with portraying Radha,” Kaur said.
She also recalled witnessing the colourful celebrations surrounding Dahi Handi while growing up. The sight of Govindas forming large human pyramids to reach and break the earthen pot left a strong impression on her.
Kaur said that what particularly caught her attention was the participation of women in Dahi Handi celebrations. She remembered seeing women come together and take part in the festivities with the same enthusiasm and determination.
“What always fascinated me was seeing women come together and participate in breaking the Dahi Handi with the same energy and enthusiasm. It was a beautiful reminder that women are equally strong and capable and can take on any challenge,” she said.
For Kaur, Janmashtami continues to evoke the warmth and innocence of childhood. The festival brings back memories of participating in celebrations, enjoying festive traditions and sharing special moments with loved ones.
The Janmashtami track on Hamari Radha is expected to combine faith, family emotions and festive drama, adding another layer to the ongoing storyline.
