Governor Anandiben Patel Flags Off ‘Cancer Free Women Bharat Yatra’ on Mother’s Day

Lucknow: Anandiben Patel, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, flagged off the “Cancer Free Women Bharat Yatra – Anandi Maa Ek Jeean Bachao Abhiyan” on the occasion of Mother’s Day at Raj Bhavan’s Jan Bhavan in Lucknow on Sunday.

The awareness rally, organised by the Stri Welfare Foundation, aimed to spread awareness about women’s health, cancer prevention, and the vision of a healthier India. The rally commenced from the Jan Bhavan portico and passed through Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Atal Chowk, Park Road, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Marg, Civil Chauraha, and Bhanumati Road before concluding at the Sarojini Naidu Marg crossing.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Anandiben Patel appreciated the initiative and interacted with representatives of the organisation. She emphasised that women’s health is the foundation of not only strong families but also a strong society. She noted that timely medical check-ups and increased awareness can help prevent serious diseases such as cancer.

More than 130 participants joined the rally, carrying forward the message of “Healthy Mothers, Secure Future.” Women, youth, and social workers participated enthusiastically and pledged to spread awareness about cancer and preventive healthcare among the public.

The Governor encouraged the organisation to continue expanding its outreach efforts and stated that such campaigns serve as an important medium for creating social awareness and positive change.

During the programme, participants collectively resolved that every mother should be safe, every sister aware, and every daughter healthy and empowered.

The campaign was described as not merely a rally, but a significant step toward strengthening public health awareness, social responsibility, and humanitarian values in society.

Among those present at the flag-off ceremony were Dr Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Officer on Special Duty to the Governor at the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, along with several other dignitaries.
