Lucknow: In India, women are worshiped as goddesses. They have been given the status of Shakti. Their safety is given priority. Various campaigns are being run across the country regarding this. In this sequence, on the occasion of Navratri, on the initiative of the Yogi government, auto rickshaw drivers are being deployed as Shakti Sarathi for the safety of women. They are being trained to ensure safety, respect and empowerment along with safe transportation of women. This unique initiative is being taken by the Gonda district administration under the guidance of CM Yogi. On the auspicious occasion of Durga Maha Ashtami, the theme “Shakti Sarathi” has been set under the “Shakti Vandan 2.0” program. Its objective is to ensure safe transportation for women and empower them. It is noteworthy that the Gonda district administration started the Shakti Vandan program last year. Then a record was set by worshiping about 12 thousand girls.
More than 1000 auto and e-rickshaw drivers will be trained
This unique initiative is being taken under the leadership of District Magistrate Neha Sharma, in which auto rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers are being trained for the safe movement of women. Training of auto drivers under the “Shakti Sarathi” initiative will strengthen women’s safety and send a new message in the society. The program will be organized on 11 October 2024. This initiative is based on the fact that more than 90% of women use auto or e-rickshaw for travel. Initially, more than 1000 auto and e-rickshaw drivers have been included under this initiative, who have been trained to provide assistance to women’s safety and emergency situations. This program will be expanded further in the future.
Women will be able to travel without fear
District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that through Shakti Vandan 2.0, efforts are being made to make the society aware about women’s empowerment and their safety. Under the ‘Shakti Sarathi’ initiative, auto drivers have been trained so that women can travel without any fear. This program is an important step towards bringing positive change towards women in the society. This program is being organized as a zero waste event, in which proper disposal of waste generated at the event site will be ensured. During the program, an exhibition of various development works will also be organized. It will showcase the improvements made in education, health, sanitation, and infrastructure. A painting competition is also being organized on the theme “Shakti Sarathi”, in which the 50 best paintings made by children will be exhibited. In the program, 9 women will be honored who have made a special contribution to the society through their work in various fields. These women are exemplary in their respective fields and their work is an inspiration for the society.
