Gonda: To ensure the smooth, peaceful and secure conduct of the annual Kanwar Yatra during the holy month of Shravan, Gonda Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal carried out an on-ground inspection of traffic diversion plans and security arrangements along the Gonda-Ayodhya border in Nawabganj police station limits on Friday.
During the inspection, the SP reviewed route diversion measures, the Kanwar Yatra route, sensitive and highly sensitive locations, and major intersections. He examined arrangements made for the safety and convenience of devotees and directed officials to ensure seamless traffic management so that both pilgrims and the general public do not face inconvenience.
Jaiswal instructed police personnel deployed on duty to perform their responsibilities with vigilance, discipline and sensitivity. He directed Nawabganj Station House Officer Abhay Singh to ensure that all police personnel remain present at their designated duty points and continue regular patrolling throughout the pilgrimage period.
The SP emphasized close monitoring of suspicious individuals and activities, with immediate action to be taken on any information received. He also stressed the effective implementation of route diversion plans to prevent traffic congestion and advised officials to use alternative routes when necessary while keeping the public informed in advance.
Special attention was given to ensuring uninterrupted movement of emergency services, including ambulances and fire brigade vehicles. The SP also inspected barricading arrangements, parking facilities, lighting systems, CCTV camera functionality and other security measures along the pilgrimage route.

He directed officials to deploy adequate police personnel at all important locations and maintain heightened vigilance at sensitive spots. Authorities were also instructed to take prompt action against misinformation or rumours spread through social media and other platforms.
Jaiswal called for a friendly and cooperative approach towards Kanwar pilgrims and directed officers to provide immediate assistance whenever required. He also stressed coordination with local residents and public representatives to maintain peace and law and order.
Speaking during the inspection, the SP said the district police are fully committed to ensuring the successful completion of the Kanwar Yatra. He appealed to residents and pilgrims to follow traffic regulations, cooperate with the diversion arrangements and immediately report any suspicious person or activity to the police so that the pilgrimage can be conducted in a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
The inspection was attended by Nawabganj SHO Abhay Singh and other police officials and personnel.
