Gonda: Gonda Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal honoured Head Constable Pawan Yadav with a commendation certificate for displaying exceptional courage and presence of mind in rescuing a youth from drowning in the Saryu Canal.
According to the police, on July 8, information was received that a person had fallen into the Saryu Canal near Alawal Deoria in the Dhanepur police station area. A police team rushed to the spot and found an unidentified युवक being swept away by the strong current while repeatedly calling for help.
Recognising the gravity of the situation, Head Constable Pawan Yadav, posted at Dhanepur Police Station, immediately jumped into the fast-flowing canal without concern for his own safety. Battling the strong current, he managed to reach the drowning youth and safely brought him back to the bank after a strenuous rescue effort, saving his life.
The rescued youth was later identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of the late Nan Babu and a resident of Khalba locality under Kotwali Nagar Police Station in Gonda district. His uncle, Babulal, was informed and called to the spot. After completing the necessary legal formalities and verification, Rakesh Kumar was safely handed over to his family.

In recognition of his exemplary bravery and devotion to duty, Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal presented Head Constable Pawan Yadav with a commendation certificate.
Praising the officer’s actions, the Superintendent of Police said Pawan Yadav demonstrated remarkable courage, quick decision-making, and an unwavering commitment to protecting human life despite the personal risk involved. He described the rescue as an inspiring example of dedication and professionalism that reflects the highest traditions of the police force.
