The ‘SANGRAM 1857’ NCC Cycling Expedition was flagged off from Lucknow in the early hours of 6 January, 2025. GOC-in-C Central Command, Lt. General Anindya Sengupta cycled with the 15-member expedition bidding them farewell at the borders of Lucknow as they move on to their next destination. The expedition will cover a total distance of 2000 kms over 17 days and has been organised by UP NCC Directorate to commemorate the First War of Independence in 1857. Including the team leader, Brig NS Chaarag, Group Commander of Agra NCC Group, the expedition team comprises NCC cadets, including five girl cadets, of UP NCC Directorate. The expedition arrived in Lucknow on 4 Jan 2025, where it was flagged in by Lt. General Anindya Sengupta. The rally, which commenced from Meerut on 01 Jan 2025, will traverse through all the major battlefields and significant places of the revolt.
Army Commander Lt. General Anindya Sengupta, commended the UP NCC Directorate for this initiative and applauded the fitness, dedication, and commitment of the expedition team.
The expedition will make its way across various locations in UP in the coming days and will finally culminate during the PM’s Rally of the NCC Republic Day Camp 2025 at New Delhi, where it will be flagged in by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
