Palestine: Living and health conditions in the Gaza Strip are “inhumane,” according to the UN agency for Palestine refugees.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said on social networking platform X on Sunday that “living and sanitary conditions throughout Gaza are inhumane.”
“Mountains of garbage are piling up in Gaza’s middle areas as sewage leaks onto the streets,” it said.
It demanded an immediate truce, saying that “families have no choice but to live beside the accumulated waste, exposed to the reek and the threat of a looming health disaster.”
In response to a Hamas rampage along the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in almost 1,200 deaths and more than 250 hostages, Israel launched a massive attack against Hamas in Gaza, according to Xinhua news agency.
Local health officials announced in a statement on Sunday that the number of Palestinian deaths resulting from the continuing Israeli assaults on Gaza has grown to 41,595 with 96,251 injuries.
