Gandhi Jayanti Service Programme Held at Ramganga Leprosy Ashram in Bareilly

Bareilly: A service programme was organised at Ramganga Leprosy Ashram in Bareilly on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The annual initiative was attended by senior district officials, social workers and members of Sarva Seva Samiti, who distributed food and fruits among the residents of the ashram.

The programme was presided over by Additional District Magistrate (City) Avinash Tripathi, while Mahendra Kumar, Registrar of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), attended as the chief guest.

Senior social worker and District Administration Adviser Zaheer Ahmed said the service programme had been organised continuously for the past 20 to 25 years to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. Former ADM City K.N. Sehgal said the committee also distributes blankets and food among needy people during the winter season.

During the programme, members of Sarva Seva Samiti shared their views on social welfare and community service. Committee member Surendra Tyagi highlighted the role of the district administration in supporting the annual food distribution initiative for underprivileged and disadvantaged people.

Gyan Kale Singh, Sharik Ali Khan and several other prominent personalities were also present on the occasion. The programme reaffirmed the spirit of compassion, service and social responsibility associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals.
