Book Launch Event by Lucknow Management Association Explores The Science and Practice of Happiness
Lucknow — The Lucknow Management Association (LMA) hosted a thought-provoking book launch for The Happiness Revolution: Transforming Lives, Workplaces, and Nations at its Conference Hall in Smriti Bhawan, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The book was formally unveiled by Alok Ranjan, Former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and Past President of LMA, in the presence of distinguished academicians, policymakers, and management professionals.
The event marked the culmination of months of discourse and research on the vital subject of happiness and its role in shaping individual well-being, organizational performance, and public governance. The book, a result of collaborative intellectual efforts, aims to present happiness not merely as a personal pursuit but as a strategic imperative in modern workplaces and governance models.
A Multi-Dimensional Exploration of Happiness
The Happiness Revolution stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, drawing upon insights from psychology, neuroscience, economics, and management science. It emphasizes that happiness is both an outcome and a process, shaped by internal practices such as meditation and yoga, as well as by external environments, including work culture and policy frameworks.
In his address, Alok Ranjan underlined the need to incorporate happiness as a metric of success, not just at the personal level but also within institutions and government systems. “In a fast-paced world, we often prioritize economic growth over individual well-being. This book challenges us to rethink success through the lens of human happiness,” he said.
Insights from Panel Discussions and Research
The book is a compilation of expert opinions, drawn from a series of panel discussions organized by LMA between June 2024 and February 2025. These sessions brought together academics, psychologists, policymakers, corporate leaders, and spiritual thinkers, each offering unique perspectives on how happiness impacts creativity, productivity, and governance.
As a part of its research, LMA also conducted an evidence-based case study examining the impact of employee happiness on organizational growth, providing quantifiable proof that well-being initiatives are more than just ethical—they are strategically advantageous for businesses.
Topics covered in the book include:
- The neuroscience of happiness and how meditation can rewire the brain
- The role of joyful work environments in boosting employee output
- How happiness influences academic achievement and innovation
- The need for public policies that foster happiness as a societal goal
A Book for Policymakers, Researchers, and Professionals
In addition to offering academic insight, The Happiness Revolution has been crafted to serve as a practical guide for professionals, administrators, and leaders seeking to foster happiness within their spheres of influence. The structured format, with clearly labeled sections and a detailed table of contents, makes the book accessible and actionable.
Acknowledging the contributions of various panelists, LMA extended gratitude to all experts who shared their insights during the discussions. The organization also noted that despite minor omissions due to recording limitations, every effort was made to represent the speakers’ ideas accurately.
