Film Stars’ Ramleela to Be Staged in Ayodhya from January 15; Delhi Show Begins October 10

Ayodhya: The internationally acclaimed Film Stars’ Ramleela, traditionally staged in Ayodhya during Dussehra, will be held in the city from January 15 to 25 next year, with organisers promising a grander production. This year, the eighth edition of the theatrical extravaganza will be staged in Delhi from October 10 to 20.

Subhash Malik ‘Bobby’, founder and chairman of the Ayodhya Ramleela Committee, announced the schedule during a visit to Ayodhya, where he offered prayers at Ram Lalla and Hanuman Garhi and sought the blessings of saints.

Miss Universe India 2026 Kezia Liz Mejo will portray Goddess Sita, while actor and MP Ravi Kishan will play Lord Ram in the Delhi production. Veteran actors Raza Murad, Bindu Dara Singh, Avtar Gill and Puneet Issar will portray Ravana, Kumbhakarna, Meghnad and Parashuram, respectively. MP and Bhojpuri film star Manoj Tiwari and actor Arun Bakshi will also appear in significant roles.

The Delhi production will be staged at Mavlankar Hall in the prestigious Constitution Club, featuring elaborate sets, advanced technology and large LED screens to recreate the Treta Yuga.

Bobby said the decision to shift the Dussehra edition to Delhi was taken following difficulties with stage availability, arrangements and weather-related damage to decorations and digital equipment during previous performances in Ayodhya. January was considered more suitable for staging the event in the temple city.

A new feature of this year’s Delhi production will be the introduction of a children’s Ramleela, involving 15 schools and children aged 10 to 16. The participants are being trained by experts and familiarised with the Ramayana to help them understand and imbibe the values of Lord Ram.

The committee plans to present the January production in Ayodhya on an even grander scale, reinforcing the city’s cultural and religious association with the Ramayana.
