Government Wheat Procurement Centres Inaugurated in Mau to Benefit Farmers
Lucknow: A K Sharma inaugurated a government wheat procurement centre at Rajendra Nagar (Dargah) in Mau district during his visit to the region on Thursday. The minister also facilitated the reopening of the previously non-operational Duwari procurement centre.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said the Uttar Pradesh government remains fully committed to the progress, prosperity and self-reliance of farmers and is continuously working to provide them with every possible support.
He stated that the establishment of wheat procurement centres is ensuring a transparent and convenient system for farmers to sell their produce. Farmers will no longer have to depend on middlemen, as they can now directly sell wheat to government centres at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), ensuring fair compensation and improved income.
The minister said the procurement centre would prove highly beneficial for farmers in the surrounding villages by saving their time, transportation costs and other resources while ensuring timely payment for their produce.

Emphasising the government’s commitment to agriculture, Sharma said the objective is to ensure that every farmer receives the rightful value of his hard work and that the agricultural sector contributes significantly to strengthening the state’s economy.
He added that the “double-engine government” is implementing several welfare schemes aimed at improving the economic condition and overall well-being of farmers across the state.
The programme was attended by Chairperson Kanti Mishra along with other dignitaries. A large number of local residents and farmers were also present on the occasion.
