Lucknow: State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that the Model Code of Conduct is effective in the entire state to conduct fair, peaceful, fear-free, inducement-free, inclusive and safe voting.
He said that Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies seized liquor, drugs, precious metals, free gifts and cash etc. worth Rs 9969.63 lakh from March 1 to March 30. In this, Rs 1746.15 lakh cash amount, 692961.18 liters worth Rs 2413.52 lakh, 5597816.68 gram drug worth Rs 3916.92 lakh, 41010.24 grams worth Rs 1779.21 lakh, 41010.24 grams of valuable metals, free gifts of Rs 143 lakh and 699.219.219.219.219.219.219.219.219.21 was confiscated.
A total of liquor, drugs and cash etc. worth Rs 268.06 lakh were seized on March 30 by Excise, Income Tax, Police and Narcotics Department and other enforcement agencies.
In this, Rs 85.27 lakh in cash, 36244.68 liters of liquor worth Rs 104.58 lakh, 136659.50 grams of drugs worth Rs 77.18 lakh and 1846.38 grams of precious metals worth Rs 1.03 lakh were seized.
In the major seizure on March 30, 1000 grams of drugs with an estimated value of Rs 10 lakh were seized in Balha (SC) assembly constituency of Bahraich district and 320 grams of drugs with an estimated value of Rs 16 lakh in Zaidpur assembly constituency of Barabanki district. Apart from this, cash amounting to Rs 10 lakh was seized in Bulandshahr Assembly constituency of Bulandshahr district and Rs 25 lakh in Lucknow Central Assembly constituency of Lucknow district.
