Lucknow: Inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 took shape in Sarojini Nagar with the combined spirit of the ongoing Sarojini Nagar Sports League, which has been running successfully for the last three years. Under the guidance of Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma and the leadership of MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, the grand Football Championship 2025 was inaugurated at CMS Jai Jagat Ground, Kanpur Road.
A Grand Opening Ceremony:
The Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 began with grandeur and patriotic fervor. The atmosphere came alive with the enthusiastic participation of students from various schools who filled the venue with energy, music, and national spirit. The event commenced with a soulful Saraswati Vandana, followed by patriotic songs, cultural dances, and rhythmic performances by school bands. The disciplined parade and captivating march-past by NSS cadets left the audience spellbound.
Right from day one, the sportsmanship and zeal of the young players were evident on the field. The opening matches between Avadh Collegiate vs. Chiranjeevi Bharti and Amausi Junior vs. Telibagh Youth Club witnessed thrilling performances. Both Chiranjeevi Bharti and Telibagh Youth Club emerged victorious with remarkable displays of talent, setting an exciting tone for the championship ahead.
A Celebration of Youth Energy:
This festival of sports marks the eighth edition of the Sarojini Nagar Sports League, continuously organized by MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh to channel the energy of the youth towards unity, health, and empowerment through sports.
The competition includes Inter-School and Inter-Club Championships in Football, Cricket, and Basketball categories. A total of 20 Inter-School teams and 21 Inter-Club teams are participating this year. The winner team will receive a cash prize of ₹50,000, while the runner-up will be awarded ₹25,000.
Address by MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh:
Encouraging the players, Dr. Singh said, “Sports break caste barriers, unite the nation, and nurture patriotism. The more our youth engage in sports, the healthier they will be – and when our youth are healthy, the nation progresses even faster.”
He further said, “Dr. Dinesh Sharma Ji’s blessings are special upon Sarojini Nagar. As Mayor, he made Lucknow a Smart City; as Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, he elevated the state’s education system; as IT Minister, he promoted digital literacy. Initiatives like Sansad Khel Mahotsav in Sarojini Nagar are inspired by his vision and guidance.”

In his address, the former Deputy Chief Minister said, “Sports foster coordination, promote harmony, and bring peace to life. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sansad Khel Mahotsav began, and today we can see its results on the ground – rural talents are now representing their cities, states, and even the nation.”
He added, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has provided open encouragement to players. Sports transcend caste, religion, and social barriers – they teach us not just to win, but to keep moving forward. Thanks to PM Modi’s vision, Indian players are now winning gold medals in the Olympics, Commonwealth, and Asian Games. Sports have now become a source of both health and professional opportunity.”
