Dr. Sampurnanand Remembered on His Death Anniversary: Congress Pays Tribute

Lucknow: On the occasion of the death anniversary of freedom fighter, litterateur, and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Sampurnanand, Uttar Pradesh Congress President and former minister, Ajay Rai, paid tribute by garlanding his portrait and offering floral homage.

Addressing the gathering, Ajay Rai described Dr. Sampurnanand as a symbol of simplicity and an enduring inspiration for all. “Dr. Sampurnanand was a staunch advocate of the Hindi language, a profound scholar in numerous fields, and the author of several significant books and treatises,” said Rai.

Dr. Sampurnanand held esteemed positions, including Uttar Pradesh’s Education Minister, Home Minister, and Chief Minister. He also served as the Governor of Rajasthan. Despite his stature, his personality remained untouched by power, embodying a life of simplicity and humility. Even while active in politics, Dr. Sampurnanand dedicated himself to producing a wealth of high-quality literary works.

Rai lamented attempts to erase the legacy of such an illustrious figure. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of attempting to rename the sports college in Varanasi that honored Dr. Sampurnanand. “This vile effort to undermine his legacy in Modi’s parliamentary constituency of Varanasi was thwarted due to Congress’s strong opposition,” Rai asserted.

He reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to preserving and upholding the ideals and heritage of Dr. Sampurnanand. “We are resolute in safeguarding his vision and contributions, which continue to inspire us,” Rai concluded.

Dr. Sampurnanand remains a towering figure in Indian politics and literature, a leader whose life exemplified dedication to public service and intellectual rigor.
