Double Murder in Malihabad: Police Arrest Accused

Lucknow: In a chilling incident of love-related violence, the Malihabad Police have arrested a young man who brutally murdered a woman and her six-year-old daughter. The shocking incident occurred on the night of January 15-16, 2025, when the accused, identified as Vikas (25 years old), used a rod and a knife to kill Geeta (28 years old) and her daughter in their home.

Details of the Crime

The crime took place in Malihabad, where Vikas entered the house using a rod as a tool to break in. He then attacked Geeta and her daughter. Geeta was his relative by marriage, and the two had been in a romantic relationship since the pandemic. Vikas had gone to Kuwait for work but returned two months later at Geeta’s request, incurring a ₹3 lakh debt in the process.

The relationship, however, soured when Geeta stopped communicating with him, leaving Vikas deeply distressed. On the night of the murder, Vikas went to Geeta’s house under the pretext of talking things over. When Geeta refused and expressed her displeasure, he attacked her with a rod. Before he could slit her throat, Geeta’s daughter woke up and screamed, prompting the accused to brutally beat the child to death with the same rod.

After committing the murders, the accused fled the scene, taking the victims’ jewelry and ₹760 in cash with him.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the shocking incident, Siddhnath Kannaujia, the father of Geeta, informed the police about the murder. The police immediately initiated an investigation, and after gathering evidence, they identified the killer as Vikas, a resident of Ishapur village in Malihabad.

On January 18, 2025, the police apprehended Vikas near Nazarnagar flyover, where he was trying to escape. Upon questioning, he confessed to the crime.

Motive Behind the Murder

The investigation revealed that Vikas and Geeta had been involved romantically since the pandemic. After Geeta stopped talking to him, Vikas became increasingly agitated. On the night of the murders, he decided to teach her a lesson, leading him to plan the gruesome crime.

Police Recovery

The police recovered the murder weapon, including the rod and knife used in the killings, Vikas’ motorcycle (Plate No. UP32GU1335), the victim’s jewelry, and ₹760 in cash from his possession.

Legal Proceedings

A murder case has been registered under Sections 103(1)/238/311 of the Indian Penal Code at Malihabad Police Station. The accused has been sent to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, with the Crime Branch and Malihabad Police working in close collaboration.
