Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh inspected the newly constructed Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) building at Khalilpur near Rampur Road Crossing and reviewed the arrangements and infrastructure developed for its operation.
Constructed by the Uttar Pradesh State Construction Corporation, the facility is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening scientific investigation and forensic analysis in criminal cases across the region.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate examined the quality of construction, structural arrangements, security measures, and various laboratory sections within the building. He also sought detailed information from officials regarding the construction timeline and the facilities provided at the state-of-the-art laboratory.
Emphasizing the importance of the project, Singh directed officials to expedite the process of handing over the building to the concerned department. He noted that the laboratory would significantly enhance scientific investigation capabilities, making the crime detection process more efficient, transparent, and time-bound while assisting law enforcement agencies in solving cases more quickly.
The District Magistrate also reviewed the status of the pending handover process. Officials informed him that a proposal had already been sent to the Directorate and that the formal handover would be completed after receiving the necessary approval and constituting the required committee.

During the visit, Singh inspected essential facilities, including power supply systems, water supply arrangements, fire safety infrastructure, record preservation mechanisms, and other operational requirements. He instructed officials to ensure comprehensive testing of all installations before the laboratory becomes functional and to rectify any shortcomings without delay.
Officials of the State Construction Corporation, representatives of concerned departments, technical experts, and staff members were present during the inspection and briefed the District Magistrate on the project’s progress and readiness.
The new forensic laboratory is expected to strengthen the criminal justice system by providing advanced scientific support for investigations and improving the accuracy and speed of forensic examinations.
