BBAU Announces New Academic and Infrastructure Initiatives During Admission Press Conference

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) on Thursday held a press conference to provide details about the admission process for the academic session 2026–27 and unveil a series of academic and infrastructure development initiatives aimed at enhancing student opportunities and campus facilities.

The conference was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal and attended by Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. S. Victor Babu, Registrar Dr. Ashwini Kumar Singh, Admission Cell Committee Chairman Prof. Amit Kumar Singh, and Public Relations Officer Dr. Rachna Gangwar.

Addressing the media, Prof. Mittal said the university remains committed to providing quality, employment-oriented, and holistic education. He emphasized the expansion of skill-based and value-added courses to equip students with competencies aligned with evolving global requirements.

The Vice-Chancellor informed that the construction of a modern lecture hall complex is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by September this year.

Major Development Plans for Amethi Campus

Prof. Mittal announced that development projects worth nearly ₹1 crore are underway at the university’s Amethi campus. These include the expansion of information technology facilities, introduction of live lecture systems, construction of a modern auditorium, enhancement of hostel capacity—particularly for female students—installation of a dedicated power sub-station for uninterrupted electricity supply, establishment of a computer laboratory equipped with 60 systems, and installation of new water coolers.

Focus on Net-Zero Carbon Campus

Highlighting sustainability initiatives, the Vice-Chancellor said the Lucknow campus is being developed as a Net-Zero Carbon Campus. Planned measures include biodiversity conservation, scientific recycling of paper and e-waste, commercial development of the herbal garden, and promotion of entrepreneurship activities.

He also announced the establishment of a new computer laboratory equipped with around 200 computers, along with strengthening hostel facilities, hobby clubs, co-curricular activities, and other student-centric amenities.

AI, Research and Internationalization in Focus

Looking ahead, the university plans to expand its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes and promote NRI quota admissions in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses.

Prof. Mittal further stated that BBAU is focusing on the development of high-performance computing facilities, launching a postgraduate diploma programme in Artificial Intelligence, publishing high-quality research journals, and strengthening collaboration with industry partners.

Admission Process and Deadlines

Admission Cell Committee Chairman Prof. Amit Kumar Singh provided details of the university’s undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes. He explained both CUET-based and non-CUET admission procedures, along with information regarding self-financed and skill-based courses.

According to the university, admissions are currently open for 55 CUET-PG-based programmes and 10 non-CUET courses for the 2026–27 academic session. The institution has been receiving applications from candidates across the country.

The university offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes, including MA, MSc, Integrated MSc, MBA, MCA, MEd, LLM, and MTech, among others.

Applications for CUET-PG-based programmes are open from May 14 to June 7, 2026, while candidates can apply with a late fee until June 13, 2026. For non-CUET courses, applications are being accepted from May 25 to June 24, 2026, with the late application window remaining open until June 30, 2026.

The application fee has been fixed at ₹500 for candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories, while SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates are required to pay ₹300. A late fee of ₹1,000 will be applicable for applications submitted after the prescribed deadlines.

University officials urged students and parents to submit applications on time and rely only on the official admission process and university notifications for authentic information.
