Lucknow: A heartfelt condolence meeting was held at the Communist Party of India (CPI) office in Kaiserbagh, Lucknow, to honor the memory of Comrade Shamsher Singh Yadav, a dedicated leader who served the party for over four decades. The meeting was chaired by Comrade Kanti Mishra, a member of the CPI National Council and State Executive.
Comrade Shamsher Singh, who had been the Provincial Office Minister of CPI’s Uttar Pradesh unit, passed away on January 9, 2025, at 11:45 PM due to cardiac arrest at his residence. His final rites were performed on January 10 in his native village Shahpur, Chinhat, in the presence of grieving family members and party colleagues.
Tributes by Party Leaders
State Council Secretary of CPI, Comrade Arvind Raj Swaroop, expressed deep sorrow in his message, describing Comrade Shamsher as a progressive thinker and a true Marxist-Communist worker. “His demise is an irreparable loss to the party,” he stated.
District Secretary Comrade Parmanand remembered him as a committed worker who served as the Provincial Office Minister for 30 years. “He was a knowledgeable, responsible, and popular figure in the party,” he said.
Comrade Mohammad Khalik, a former district secretary, highlighted his patience, humility, and amicable nature, calling him an exemplary figure in the party.
Senior leader and IPTA National Executive President Comrade Rakesh Veda emphasized the importance of introspection and engaging more youth with the party’s ideology to fill the void left by Comrade Shamsher.
AITUC State Committee President Dr. V.K. Singh underlined the moral responsibility of the party to remain sensitive and supportive towards its dedicated workers.
State Executive member and Provincial Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Electricity Employees Union, Comrade Mahendra Rai, assured continued support to Comrade Shamsher’s family, reaffirming the party’s commitment to its members.
Comrade Chandrashekhar, AITUC Provincial Secretary, shed light on Shamsher’s struggles as a revenue department employee in Barabanki. Despite injustices in his professional life, he remained resilient and devoted to the party’s cause.
Personal Tributes
Comrade Mukhtar Ahmed, a longtime colleague, shared that Shamsher was devoid of pride and always ready to undertake any task for the party. He encouraged Shamsher’s son, Mitrasen Yadav, to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Responding to the encouragement, Mitrasen Yadav expressed his father’s unwavering dedication to the party, recalling how even at home, discussions revolved around political developments. He also revealed his father’s fondness for revolutionary poetry and songs, which reflected his ideological passion.

Messages of condolence from CPI National Secretariat member Dr. Girish Sharma and State Secretary Comrade Arvind Raj Swaroop were read out during the meeting. Former Indian Women’s Federation President Comrade Asha Mishra and former State Secretary Comrade Ashok Mishra also conveyed their respects.

Chairperson Comrade Kanti Mishra, in her concluding remarks, praised Shamsher’s contributions to the women’s federation and his exemplary conduct, offering a heartfelt tribute.
The meeting concluded with a two-minute silence in his honor and resounding chants of “Comrade Shamsher Singh Amar Rahein!”
