Lucknow: A key meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) was held in Lucknow on Thursday under the chairmanship of Vijay Vishwas Pant. The meeting focused on the speedy and transparent disposal of transport-related matters concerning six districts of the Lucknow division — Lucknow, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Hardoi, and Lakhimpur Kheri.
The meeting was attended by Vishakh G, Deputy Transport Commissioner of Lucknow region, Regional Transport Officers, enforcement officials, representatives of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, and Assistant Regional Transport Officers from across the division.
Detailed discussions were held on matters related to autos, tempos, buses, and contract carriage vehicles operating within the Lucknow division. The authority approved 170 applications for stage carriage bus permits, eight applications for renewal of auto and tempo permits, and 10 applications related to endorsement of auto and bus permits. One application received under the Carriage by Road Act was also heard and approved for renewal as per rules.
The meeting also focused on improving public transport systems by strengthening permit renewal mechanisms, route management, passenger facilities, traffic regulation, and enforcement of transport norms. Vehicle owners and representatives of auto, tempo, and bus unions presented their concerns and suggestions, many of which were resolved on the spot following discussions.

Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant directed officials to ensure efficient, safe, and citizen-friendly transport services while maintaining transparency and timely disposal of all pending transport matters across the division.
