Varanasi: After La Paz, Mexico, Bolivia, the world’s third and the country’s first urban transport ropeway (City Ropeway) is likely to start in Kashi from Dev Deepawali. In the first section, Kashi residents will be able to travel smoothly from Varanasi Junction Cantt Railway Station to Rath Yatra in less time. The operation of City Ropeway will provide relief from traffic problems in Varanasi.
The equipment brought from Switzerland for the construction of the ropeway has started being installed. The ropeway is being constructed in Varanasi at a cost of Rs 807 crore. This work is being done by Switzerland-based company Berthollet. When tourists come to Varanasi on Dev Deepawali, they will be able to travel by ropeway.
The trial run of the ropeway will be done soon
CM Yogi Adityanath is rapidly implementing PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious plan, which will provide great relief from the traffic problem in Varanasi. The work of installing stations and towers for the operation of the ropeway is going on at a fast pace. Soon there will be a trial run of the ropeway. After that tourists will be able to travel.
Gondola will be available to passengers at an interval of every one and a half to two minutes. 3000 people will be able to travel in one direction in an hour, that is, six thousand passengers will travel in both directions in an hour. It will take about 16 minutes to reach Cantt Railway Station from Godaulia. About 150 trolley cars will run from an estimated height of 45 to 50 meters. 10 passengers can travel in one trolley. The ropeway will operate for 16 hours.
Work is going on fast on 16 towers
National Highway Logistics Private Limited (NHLML) Chief Executive Officer Prakash Gaur said that tourists from all over the world come to Varanasi on Dev Deepawali. NHLML is trying to start the operation of the ropeway (City Ropeway) by Dev Deepawali and the tourists coming to Kashi can get good pollution-free transport facilities. According to the company officials, anchor bolts have been installed at Vidyapeeth station.
Vishnudev government will use IT for good governance. Apart from this, many acceleration and de-acceleration conveyors have also been installed. Now the work of installing ropes will start soon. A total of two towers have been installed from Varanasi Junction Railway Station to Rathyatra. Work is going on rapidly on 16 towers.
