Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow, marked National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day with the launch of its NSS unit for the first time, accompanied by tree plantation, a cleanliness drive, public awareness activities and an orientation programme.
The programme began with a tree plantation drive on the university campus. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandvi Singh planted a neem sapling, followed by participation from NSS volunteers and university officials. The initiative highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and developing a clean and green campus.
Addressing the volunteers, Prof. Singh said the launch of NSS was an important step towards the holistic development of students. She encouraged them to actively participate in social initiatives and contribute to positive change through service.
An NSS cleanliness and awareness campaign was subsequently conducted across the campus. Volunteers promoted cleanliness, environmental responsibility and healthy community practices.
An orientation session was later held at the Jaishankar Prasad Auditorium, where NSS Programme Coordinator Anjani Kumar Dubey briefed students on the scheme’s objectives, functioning and social significance. Programme Officers Dr Alok Yadav, Dr Kajal Ojha and Dr Shivam Mishra were also present.
The programme concluded with NSS volunteers taking a pledge to serve society and the nation and actively participate in cleanliness, environmental conservation, awareness and public welfare initiatives.
A total of 114 NSS volunteers participated in the Foundation Day programme.
