Lucknow: The poignant episode of Bharat’s return to Ayodhya following the death of King Dasharath moved audiences deeply during a staging of the Ramleela. The city of Ayodhya is shown immersed in grief after the king’s demise, while Bharat and Shatrughna return from their maternal grandfather’s home, unaware of the tragedy and Lord Ram’s exile.
The emotional drama unfolds when Bharat reaches the palace and learns the entire sequence of events from his mother, Kaikeyi. Overwhelmed by his father’s death and enraged by his mother’s role in sending Lord Ram into exile, Bharat expresses his anguish in a powerful lament.

His heartbreaking lines, “Na main paida yahan hota, na aisi durdasha hoti; Pashu yoni thi achhi, par na mata karkasha hoti” (Had I not been born here, such a tragedy would not have occurred; even an animal’s birth would have been better than having a harsh-hearted mother), struck an emotional chord with the audience.

Bharat’s portrayal of grief, devotion towards his elder brother and anguish over the family’s tragedy became one of the most moving moments of the performance, leaving many spectators visibly emotional.
The characters were portrayed by Satyam Yadav as Ram, Harshit Sonkar as Lakshman, Ankit Tripathi as Bharat, Sumit as Shatrughna, Jagjit Singh as Kaikeyi, and Sanjay Srivastava, popularly known as “Chachchu”, as Raja Goh.
