Bareilly Ranks Fourth in Uttar Pradesh Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

Bareilly: Bareilly has secured the fourth position in Uttar Pradesh under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, reflecting the district’s strong push toward renewable energy adoption and household solarisation.

The achievement comes under the leadership and continuous monitoring of District Magistrate Avinash Singh. According to Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Project Officer (NEDA) Ram Janam Yadav, a total of 20,076 solar panel installations have been completed across the district so far. In April alone, 839 installations were recorded, including 88 installations on April 13, contributing significantly to Bareilly’s high ranking.

Officials noted that the district has been assigned a target of 41,163 installations for the financial year 2026–27, indicating an ambitious expansion plan under the scheme. The initiative is aimed at promoting rooftop solar systems among residential consumers, particularly those with electricity consumption ranging from 1 kW to 10 kW.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries can avail substantial government subsidies. Financial assistance includes ₹45,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹90,000 for a 2 kW system, and up to ₹1,08,000 for systems between 3 kW and 10 kW. Consumers can apply online through the official portal of the scheme.

The strong performance highlights Bareilly’s growing commitment to clean energy and aligns with broader national efforts to increase renewable energy usage, reduce electricity costs for households, and move toward a sustainable energy future.
