Lucknow: Awadh Girls Degree College celebrated NSS Foundation Day with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, highlighting the values of social service, discipline and nation-building. The event was organised by the college’s NSS Club in collaboration with the Pandit Birju Maharaj Cultural Club.
Principal Prof. Beena Rai welcomed the participants and encouraged students to embrace community service and contribute to society. Chief Guest Dr Anand Ballabh Joshi, NSS Coordinator and Associate Professor at the University of Lucknow, urged NSS volunteers to adopt the motto “You Before Self” and contribute to social development with dedication and commitment.
The celebrations featured a range of cultural presentations, including Ganesh Vandana, the NSS song, poetry recitation, dance performances and a documentary screening.
The highlight of the programme was a street play on the theme “AI: Boon or Curse?” The performance sought to create awareness about responsible citizenship and the role of young people in addressing emerging social challenges.
The programme was organised under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers Meena Kumari and Kavita Yadav, along with Prof. Preeti Awasthi, Secretary of the Pandit Birju Maharaj Cultural Club.
A large number of faculty members and students attended the celebration. The programme concluded with the national anthem and a vote of thanks.
